A Look Into Connor Bedard and Patrick Kane's Stunning NHL Stats Parallels

The Chicago Blackhawks may have found Patrick Kane's successor. Phenom Connor Bedard has produced nearly identical stats to Kane through his first 215 NHL games.

Patrick Kane, in his 215 games, had 67 goals and 134 assists. He recorded a total of 201 points in those many games. Connor Bedard is not far behind.

Till now, the 20-year-old has 75 goals, which is 8 more than Kane. He has 125 assists and 200 points overall, just one less than Kane. These numbers show there is not much to separate the two.

Both players reached their 200th point in their 215th game. Bedard's moment came against the San Jose Sharks on April 07, 2026 (Tuesday).

Bedard scored more goals, showcasing his elite finishing ability and offensive instincts. Meanwhile, Kane recorded more assists, reflecting the playmaking brilliance that would later define his Hall-of-Fame-caliber career.

"Both elite talents, but it's very reminiscent with me with Patrick Kane. Just the speed, the quickness, those big, timely goals when they're needed, and the accuracy to finish on the play," NHL Central Scouting director Dan Marr said on the NHL Draft Class podcast.

Is Connor Bedard A successor of Patrick Kane?

Connor Bedard and Patrick Kane are being compared not only because their numbers are nearly identical, but their career trajectories have looked remarkably similar so far.

Both players were selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round. Kane played for Chicago from the 2007–08 season through the 2022–23 season, becoming one of the most important players in franchise history.

And it's not just about the stats, but the ability to lead. Bedard is now in his third year and is already evolving into a leader.

"It’s a no-brainer in all our eyes for how he’s led us and what he does on a nightly and daily basis in here, so it’s exciting for him to get that opportunity," Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno said in March.

If these statistical parallels continue, the Blackhawks may have a generational talent capable of shaping the franchise for years to come.
