The Colorado Avalanche and Nashville Predators managed to complete a multi-player trade on Wednesday, June 24, around the peak time of the offseason.
"We have traded Jack Drury and Chase Bradley and our own 3rd Round Pick in the 2029 NHL Entry Draft to Nashville in exchange for Players Fedor Svechkov and Zachary L’Heureux," the Avalanche official X account posted.
Notably, new Predators GM and president of hockey operations Chris MacFarland was a big part of this multi-player trade, just weeks after leaving the role of Avalanche GM. When MacFarland made the jump on June 2, Avalanche president of hockey operations, Joe Sakic, took over the GM role for the “for the foreseeable future.”
As per the report published on the NHL website, MacFarland spoke very highly about Drury and what he will bring to the table in Nashville after leaving Colorado.
“Jack Drury is a hard-working, reliable, full-sheet of the ice center who can handle the tough assignments while being elite in the face-off circle,” he said about his newest acquisition. “His addition to our forward group bolsters our depth in the middle of the ice, and we’re thrilled to have him on our roster.”
It was eight years ago when the Carolina Hurricanes selected Drury as the No. 42 pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. After making his debut for the Hurricanes in 2021-22, he played for them in four seasons before getting traded to the Avs in January 2025.
In 2025-26, Drury scored a joint-career high 27 points (10G / 17A) after taking the ice in 82 regular-season games for Colorado. He also recorded five points (3G / 2A) in the 13 Stanley Cup playoff games for them.
Drury also finished up his two-year, $3.45 million contract in the process, which the Avalanche took over after it was initially signed with the Canes in July 2024.
With that, the 26-year-old is set to become a restricted free agent on July 1 if he doesn’t agree on a new contract with his new team, the Predators.
His overall stats in the NHL read: 82 points (30G / 52A) in 268 games in the regular season and 15 points (5G/ 10A) in 44 games in the playoffs.
A brief overview of Fedor Svechkov and the other two players involved in the trade
Fedor Svechkov played in 70 regular-season games in 2025-26 for the Nashville Predators, scoring 17 points with four goals and 13 assists. The 23-year-old made his debut for the Predators in the 2024-25 season after they selected him as the No. 19 pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.
Across his last two seasons in Nashville, Svechkov managed to accumulate 34 points for 12 goals and 22 assists in 122 regular-season games and no playoff appearances.
Chase Bradley, 24, joined Colorado in July 2024 as a free agent after not playing for the Detroit Red Wings, who had signed him as the No. 203 pick in the 2020 NHL Draft.
In November of the same year, Bradley started two games for them in the 2024-25 regular season without registering a single point. They moved him to their AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles, where he got decent game time, scoring 12 points (9G / 3A) in 43 games last season.
As far as Zachary L’Heureux is concerned, the 23-year-old made 25 appearances for Nashville with five points (4G / 1A) to his name in the 2025-26 regular season. He has played two seasons for the Predators after they selected him as the No. 27 pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.
