Brad Marchand’s adorable offseason training partner steals the spotlight

Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand spent this weekend working out with an unusual training partner, and that is his four-year-old daughter, Rue.

In the video, Marchand and Rue were doing their exercises side by side, including box jumps and side lunges. Marchand also does a set of oblique twists, while Rue looks like she is warming up for something closer to a round of tug-of-war.

Marchand was in his usual training gear to work out, while Rue showed up dressed for the occasion in a mermaid skeleton dress. It is pretty difficult to tell from the clip who worked harder, but the better outfit belonged to Rue without much discussion.

The video was shared by his wife, Katrina Marchand, on Instagram. The father and daughter duo were going through a workout together in the family's home gym. This could show us how the two-time Stanley Cup champion is spending his offseason.

Marchand has been known for his intense training sessions in the gym as much as on the ice. And that extends to this summer, with a cameo by his daughter. At 38 years old, he now enters his 18th NHL season.

It now shows a different side to the player whose on-ice reputation is one of the league's more relentless ones. It has followed him for most of his career and included several fines and suspensions along the way.

Videos like these from the players sharing their offseason routines give fans a glimpse of life away from the rink during the summer months.

Marchand’s strong season cut short

Marchand's offseason training does carry a lot of importance considering how his 2025-26 season went.

In his second year with the Panthers after being traded from Boston in March 2025, Marchand scored 27 goals and 27 assists for 54 points in 52 games. These numbers put him among Florida's top scorers for most of the season.

Later, a lower-body injury put him on the bench and out of the game for the final stretch of the year, ending his campaign right there.

Along the way, Marchand also reached a career milestone. He made his 1,000th NHL point in a November game against the Washington Capitals. He is signed through a six-year, $31.5 million contract extension that began this past season. Marchand now stays with Florida as the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions prepare for the next season.

His postseason track record with the Panthers still plays a big role. In the 2025 playoffs, he scored 10 goals and 10 assists over 23 games. This performance makes him a finalist for the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.
