Connor McDavid has once again shown why he is one of the best playmakers in hockey. According to the NHL’s official page, he has recorded 60 or more assists in 10 straight NHL seasons.
Only Wayne Gretzky has ever matched this level of assist production over such a long stretch. Gretzky set record-breaking numbers that many thought would never be reached, including assist records that still stand today.
This season, Connor McDavid has 138 points, including 90 assists, for the Edmonton Oilers. He was selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the franchise in the 2015 NHL Draft. Since then, he has been a key member of the team.
Being mentioned alongside a legend like Wayne Gretzky is a huge achievement. Gretzky recorded 60 or more assists every season from 1979–80 to 1991–92 while playing for the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings. He therefore holds the record with 13 consecutive seasons.
Gretzky, in his career, played 1487 games and scored 2857 points, including 1963 assists.
McDavid’s achievement is not just about longevity. He has continued producing at an elite level in today’s NHL, where strong defense, better goaltending, and league parity make scoring more difficult.
