Ducks Captain Radko Gudas Brutally Paid for Previous Maple Leaf Fight Against Auston Matthews

Radko Gudas faced exactly what he had expected when the Anaheim Ducks clashed with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the rematch.

The entire game quickly turned into a revenge-driven battle, where Maple Leafs forward Max Domi dropped his gloves and started throwing punches at Radko.

Actually, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Anaheim Ducks met in a regular-season game on March 30, 2026. It was a rematch between the two teams. In the previous match, Radko injured Auston Matthews with a knee-on-knee hit, which ended Matthews’ season. In the rematch, Gudas faced physical retaliation from Leafs players, including an early fight with Max Domi.

After that incident, it felt almost certain that the Maple Leafs would retaliate. In the rematch, only a few seconds had passed when Leafs forward Max Domi started hitting Radko to take revenge.

Radko Gudas is known for his physical style of play. Even earlier in 2025, he had already been involved in two fights before this incident.

Before the rematch, Gudas stated he wanted to play and was ready to compete, despite recovering from a lower-body injury.

The Maple Leafs won the close game 5-4, with players responding physically early in the matchup as a result of the previous incident.

What exactly did Radko Gudas do in the First Leafs vs Ducks Encounter?

Earlier, the two teams met in a game on March 12, 2026. In this game, Radko Gudas injured Leafs captain Auston Matthews with a knee-on-knee hit. That hit from Radko caused Matthews to have a torn MCL.

The injury ended Auston Matthews' season, and Radko faced a five-game suspension for this act. It was Gudas’ fifth suspension of his career. The Leafs won that game 6-4.

After the game, the Maple Leafs team faced criticism for not showing up for Matthews. Later, the Leafs’ defenseman, Morgan Rielly, said he takes full responsibility for this situation.

On expected lines, the counterattack came from the Ducks in a rematch. The game ultimately served as a turning point in perception.

Radko Gudas had to face the consequences of his actions when the Toronto Maple Leafs responded strongly in the rematch.

After the previous incident, retaliation felt inevitable, and as soon as the game began, he had to deal with the physical response that followed.

The rematch highlighted Gudas’ physical style and the intensity of NHL playoff-caliber rivalries.
