The NHL world was surprised after reports suggested Dylan Larkin may have given a list of three teams for a possible trade. This suggests he could leave the Detroit Red Wings after 11 seasons.
The report came from journalist Helene St. James and was later shared by NHL insider Frank Seravalli, which increased trade speculation. With his no-trade clause, Larkin has full control over any decision.
The focus shifts to which team can meet Detroit’s asking price and Larkin’s trade preference.
Three Destinations Emerge in Dylan Larkin Trade Conversation
Here are the three landing spots for the 29-year-old center.
Florida Panthers
One of the strongest rumored teams for Dylan Larkin is the Florida Panthers. The team offers recent championship success and strong chemistry, especially after Larkin won Olympic gold with winger Matthew Tkachuk at the 2026 Milano Olympics. Florida also offers lower taxes, less media pressure, and a roster strong enough to contend.
Although the Panthers missed the playoffs this season, their core, led by captain Aleksander Barkov, is still built to compete.
A trade within the division would probably require a big package, and Detroit GM Steve Yzerman may not want to help a rival team. Even so, Florida is still a strong option.
Vegas Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights are known for making big moves. Since joining the league in 2017, they have become one of the top contenders. They have reached the Stanley Cup Finals multiple times and went all the way in 2023. Renowned for making big additions, they recently added winger Mitch Marner from the Maple Leafs.
For Dylan Larkin, Vegas would give him a chance to join a squad built to win now. With the team contesting its second Stanley Cup Final in four years, Larkin's arrival could seal another strong run next season.
Vegas could also give him an important leadership role while competing for more honors.
Minnesota Wild
The Minnesota Wild offer a different kind of appeal, based on young talent and growing momentum. Additionally, Larkin has strong connections defensemen Quinn Hughes and Brock Faber, as well as forward Matt Boldy.
Minnesota’s management under Bill Guerin has also shown a willingness to make bold roster moves.
The franchise is aiming for long-term success after several playoff disappointments. Adding an experienced center like Dylan Larkin could fast-track their improvement. Their combination of young talent and playoff ambitions is an attractive option.
As of writing, Larkin’s future currently remains uncertain. While he has several teams to consider, no trade has been finalized yet.
