Fast Start Fuels Hurricanes as Logan Stankoven Leads Game 1 Rout of Flyers

The Carolina Hurricanes made a powerful statement in Game 1 of Round 2 of the playoff series. They defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 3-0 with a commanding performance.

Right from the word "go", the Carolina Hurricanes were explosive, thanks to the top-notch game shown by forward Logan Stankoven.

Once again, he proved to be a difference-maker for the Hurricanes.

Stankoven started the proceedings and scored the first goal at 01:31 in the first period.

Then came Jackson Blake, who made sure that the Carolina Hurricanes continued their dominance, scoring the second goal at 07:30.

The Hurricanes were dominating right from the beginning, and Logan Stankoven scoring the third goal at 16:16 in the second period helped the team ensure there was no anticlimax in the game.

After the game, the Hurricanes' coach Rod Brind’Amour said a strong early start secured the win. Later, the game stayed quiet and uneventful overall.

“We had a good start, obviously. That’s what won the game,” Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “After that, not much was happening.”

Logan Stankoven has now scored a goal in all five playoff games that the Hurricanes have played this season so far.

The coach also praised Stankoven’s ability to always create chances. “His game hasn’t changed, but now the pucks are going in,” Brind’Amour said.

“He’s always created opportunities. I mean, he puts in the work, so confidence has always been there because of that. He’s been playing like this all year.”

With this win, the Hurricanes are now leading the series 1-0 in Round 2 of the playoffs.

Carolina Hurricanes Strong Start and Control Made the Difference

The Carolina Hurricanes played with high energy from the start. They attacked early, controlled the puck well, and stayed strong on defense.

Their quick goals and disciplined play kept pressure on the opponent and helped them secure a comfortable win.

The Carolina Hurricanes swept the Ottawa Senators in Round 1. They then got about a week of rest before Round 2. Many people thought they might look rusty in the first game, but that did not happen.

Rod Brind'Amour said the team answered doubts strongly. He also praised Logan Stankoven’s line for its consistent performances over the season.

“That was the big question – how we were going to come out,” Brind’Amour said.

“And obviously we answered that question. But that (Stankoven) line has been great. All of those games. Every game. Not just for five playoff games. It’s been months of it.”

Overall, the Hurricanes showcased why they are considered strong contenders this postseason.

Game 2 between the Hurricanes and Flyers will be played on May 4, 2026 (Monday), and the Hurricanes will look to carry their strong Game 1 form into the next matchup.
