Flyers Fan Paints Sidney Crosby Penalty on Ice, Sparks Penguins-Flyers Rivalry Banter

A Philadelphia Flyers fan still hasn't moved on from the Sidney Crosby embellishment incident that resulted in a penalty against them. And he made sure to remind everyone by marking Crosby's falling position on the ice of the Xfinity Mobile Arena.

The Pittsburgh Penguins were awarded a penalty in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference First Round series as Sidney Crosby went down to the ice after being struck in the face with the Flyers forward Claude Giroux's stick. However, the hit looked unintentional, and most Flyers fans thought that Crosby exaggerated the impact of the hit to earn the penalty.

As a result, one of them mocked Crosby's alleged playacting by outlining his falling position on the ice. The fan also made his stance clearer by mentioning, "R.I.P Bozo," on top of the outline, and "Embellishment 2:00 Minutes," to commemorate what they thought was an unjust penalty.

Crosby is among the players who have marked this era of hockey. He has played in the NHL since 2005 and won three Stanley Cups in his career. However, his controversial embellishment sparked a plethora of discussions in the community, with many supporting the Flyers fans' narrative.

Nevertheless, the Penguins' head coach, Dan Muse, blew away the allegations that said Crosby was trying to exaggerate the impact of the hit to earn a penalty.

During the post-Game 3 press conference, Muse also expressed discontent about the fact that Crosby was also ejected after the incident. The Penguins HC said, "We don’t have a single embellishment all year. Sidney Crosby doesn’t have an embellishment in 21 seasons. Stick’s in his face, they take both of them. I disagree on that strongly… Sid doesn’t embellish."

Well, nobody can change what has already happened, but the fan's action of marking Crosby's fallen silhouette has reignited the Penguins-Flyers rivalry.

Fans revamp the Penguins-Flyers Rivalry after the unique incident

After images of the painted Crosby outline spread online, Penguins fans quickly defended their captain while Flyers fans embraced the trolling side of the rivalry.

Several Pittsburgh fans mocked Crosby. One user wrote, “Crosby lives in Flyers' heads rent-free 24/7. More cups in his career than the Flyers franchise lol rough life.”

Another added, “Sid living rent-free in Flyers fans' heads since 06! Nothing will change lol.”

A third Penguins fan joked, “I’m sure Crosby will have to catch his tears with his 3 cups after seeing this.”

Others continued piling onto the rivalry banter with comments like, “Classic Crosby always living rent-free in Flyers fans' heads,” while others talked about Philadelphia’s long Stanley Cup drought by writing, “Remember that time the Flyers won a Cup after President Nixon was in office? Me neither.”

So while fans continue the banter, do you think the fan was right in doing whatever he did?
