"I think I can bring some excitement," McKenna said. "You know I think I'm a pretty offensive player and pretty smart… make plays and make the players around me better."

He also spoke about making the jump to the next level. "I am confident in my abilities and I'm excited to hopefully make that jump to start next season," he added. The confidence is there, but so is the work.

McKenna is the consensus number-one pick for a reason. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound winger lit up the NCAA as a freshman at Penn State. He racked up 51 points in 35 games.

His game is built around vision and hockey IQ. He reads the ice well and manipulates defenders. He finds passing lanes most players never even see.

His speed is another weapon. He can change pace mid-stride and distribute the puck fast. That kind of skill makes teammates better around him.

Scouts see him as a future 100-point producer. He could quarterback a top power play one day. The ceiling is sky-high.
