Vegas Golden Knights took to their official X account to address their fans on Tuesday, June 23, amid some concerns after losing the Stanley Cup Final earlier this month.

Just a day earlier, the Golden Knights fans were left worried about the future after their owner launched an NBA expansion bid for a team in the city. It happened months after the NBA’s board of governors approved the process to invite bids for expansion franchises in March, exclusively for Las Vegas and Seattle.

“On June 14, we watched our season come to an end where every team hopes to be-competing for the Stanley Cup,” wrote Golden Knights front office members George McPhee and John Penhollow in a post on X, at the beginning of the letter to the fans.

“The result wasn't what any of us wanted, but it doesn't take away from what this team accomplished or what we experienced together throughout the season.”

While the letter alluded to the Cup Final defeat and the 2025-26 NHL season in general, it could be considered a reassurance about the future of the franchise to the fans.

The Golden Knights were unable to win the big one against the Carolina Hurricanes after a 3-0 defeat in Game 6 in front of their fans at T-Mobile Arena. But before that, their season was quite unprecedented, securing the Division Championship for the fifth time in just nine years since their inception.

In the same letter, the Golden Knights front office thanked their fans on behalf of Foley, who is now looking to buy the first-ever NBA team to be based in Las Vegas, Nevada. This comes after the success of the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA after arriving in Sin City in 2018.

“On behalf of Bill Foley, our players, coaches, hockey operations, business staff, and everyone across the Golden Knights organization, thank you. Your support never wavered,” remarked McPhee and Penhollow to the fans. “From Opening Knight through our final game, you reminded the hockey world what makes this city different.”

They also mentioned that the “expectations remain as high as ever” for the Golden Knights, with the attention turning to their 10th NHL season.

“We can't wait to see you back at The Fortress this fall,” McPhee and Penhollow concluded the letter addressed to the Golden Knights fans.

Golden Knights appointed Ben Craig as their new head coach earlier this month

Vegas Golden Knights appointed Ben Craig as their new head coach just three days after losing the Stanley Cup Final to the Carolina Hurricanes on June 14. While their previous head coach, John Tortorella, wanted to continue in the role, GM Kelly McCrimmon decided against extending his short stay.

“I’m ready,” Craig said in the introductory press conference to the media just a day after getting a huge responsibility of coaching the Golden Knights. “I believe I’m ready for this.”

While Craig is set to take on his first head coach job in the NHL, he has spent nine years in the Golden Knights system and gained immense experience in the process.

After working as an assistant coach in the first six seasons of the Golden Knights, he took charge of the Henderson Silver Knights, their AHL affiliate, in the last three seasons.

Craig secured a playoff spot with the Silver Knights earlier this year and holds a 96-95-13 record with 12 ties across three campaigns.

“I’ve been here nine years,” he alluded to his time in the Golden Knights system. “I understand the standards and the culture of this organization, and I’m proud to lead it and represent it.”
