John Tortorella, the head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights, surprised the NHL reporters after refusing to speak to the media after the team’s victory over the Anaheim Ducks.

This unusual situation happened right after Vegas advanced to the Western Conference finals with a Game 6 win, but instead of a normal interview after the game, the coach declined all the interviews, and the team kept the locker room closed.

This silence from the team became one of the most talked about moments that night, and even experienced reporters admit that they have never seen things like that happen before.

Vegas only got one player to a separate side room for the interviews, with two players beside him at the podium.

Jesse Grager of The Athletic even made a post on X, surrounding this unusual situation.

This situation mostly followed their coach, Tortorella, one of the NHL’s most popular and outspoken coaches. He’s usually known for his tense personality with the media reporters. The coach previously led the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Stanley Cup and even helped several other teams.

He is often known for making headlines, due to his behavior with the media, and by those standards, a reaction like this, filled with silence, is such a major moment for the league.

While this postgame situation created a lot of discussions around it, the Golden Knights’ performance on that night remained the bigger point of talk.

Vegas’ win against the Ducks 

Vegas secured its position in the finals of the Western Conference after winning over Anaheim. They won with 5-1 in game 6. The Knights dominated the early part of the game by scoring three first-period goals.

The Forward, Mitch Marner, continued his strong postseason run and played a major role in the win, while Pavel Dorofeyev added to his energy scoring total. Goaltender Carter Hart also delivered a strong performance with 31 saves as Vegas closed the game soon.

The Knights stayed confident throughout the series and even won the first two games after the Ducks tied the match earlier in the round. Vegas stayed strong in their offense and goaltending by managing to stay calm under the pressure

After Tortorella took over the management of the team late in this regular season, the team still managed to show an improvement in its form. Vegas is now moving on to the Western Conference finals against the Colorado Avalanche, with high hopes of making a deep Stanley Cup run.
