The NHL's scoring race is going down to the wire. With just a few games left, three superstars are separated by only a handful of points. The Art Ross Trophy is up for grabs between Nikita Kucherov, Nathan MacKinnon, and Connor McDavid.
The Art Ross Trophy, has been dominated by this trio over the last decade. Connor McDavid leads the group with five wins, securing the trophy in 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Nikita Kucherov is a three-time winner, first capturing the award in 2019 and more recently earning back-to-back titles in 2024 and 2025.
While Nathan MacKinnon has yet to win the trophy, he has consistently been a top finalist, finishing as the runner-up to Kucherov in both the 2023–24 and 2024–25 seasons.
Kucherov, the dynamic forward from the Tampa Bay Lightning, has been in great form throughout the season. He is currently at the top of the table with 120 points.
Connor McDavid, the captain of the Edmonton Oilers, is not far behind and is in the 2nd spot with 118 points. He continues to push for the title. Meanwhile, Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche cannot be ignored, currently ranking third in the scoring table with 115 points.
The Art Ross Trophy is awarded to the player who has recorded the most points (goals + assists) at the end of the regular season.
But what's the position of Kucherov's, McDavid's, and MacKinnon's teams?
Looking at the position of the teams of the top three trophy contenders, all three teams have done well in the season. The Tampa Bay Lightning (TBL) is in 2nd position in the Atlantic Division (Eastern).
The Colorado Avalanche (COL) has already secured its place in the playoffs. They are at the top in the Central Division (Western). The Edmonton Oilers (EDM) have also found themselves in the 2nd position in the Pacific Division (Western).
Nikita Kucherov is known for his elite playmaking and scoring touch. MacKinnon has enjoyed another outstanding campaign, combining speed, strength, and offensive creativity to produce points at an elite rate.
McDavid has also delivered a spectacular season filled with highlight-reel goals and precise assists. So the battle for the Art Ross Trophy has intensified. Kucherov will look to maintain his position, while McDavid and MacKinnon will have the chance to take over.
What do you think? Who will win the trophy this season?
