Carolina Hurricanes forward William Carrier was forced to leave Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final with an upper-body injury. Towards the end of the second period, the 31-year-old made his way to the Hurricanes locker room at T-Mobile Arena.

He did not make his way back to the ice for the third period before their problems deepened with a 5-4 overtime loss against the Vegas Golden Knights. Hurricanes Report took to their Instagram account to share the news, confirming that Carrier won’t be returning to action for the remainder of the game.

They also shared a video in which he apparently sustained a problem with his right arm after hitting Vegas defenseman Jeremy Lauzon with his left shoulder.

Carrier’s injury status is unknown regarding his participation in the remainder of the best-of-seven Stanley Cup Finals Series with Carolina going down 2-1 versus Vegas.

Notably, the incident between Carrier and Lauzon happened in the neutral zone in the early stages of Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final in Las Vegas, Nevada. It had led to him hunching over the bench while favoring his right arm before heading to the Hurricanes locker room for the first time.

He returned to play in the second period before going back to the locker room once again, and then got ruled out of the game.

Moreover, Carrier was on ice for just 6:51 minutes in Game 3, including 10 shifts and six of them in the second period, with a minus-1 rating. He also had two giveaways to his name, with one leading to Mitch Marner scoring his second goal.

Carrier has four assists in his 16 appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoff games this postseason.

Vegas wins Game 3 in double overtime with a 5-4 score line despite Carolina’s epic comeback

In Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final, Tomas Hertl opened the scoring for the Vegas Golden Knights with 9:34 remaining on the clock in the second period. What followed it was the fastest hat trick in Stanley Cup Final history from Mitch Marner, taking just 6:10 minutes for it.

He beat the previous record set by Maurice Richard in 6:21 minutes, which lasted for 69 years.

With a 4-0 lead heading into the third period, it felt as though Vegas would cruise to victory until Carolina made a great comeback. They scored three goals in just 39 seconds, the fastest to achieve this feat in the history of the Stanley Cup Final.

Jordan Martinook scored the first one with 12:57 remaining on the clock before Taylor Hall and captain Jordan Staal got on the scoresheet. The key goal to level the score line at 4-4 came in the 58:18 minute of the game from Andrei Svechnikov.

Also, Carolina had made a big decision to replace their primary goaltender, Frederik Andersen, with Brandon Bussi for the third period.

But after keeping Vegas at bay for a long time, he conceded the all-important game-winning goal to Shea Theodore for a 5-4 score line at 5:38 in the second overtime.
