The NHL revealed its two All-Star Teams for the 2025-26 season in a major announcement on Friday. But it was notable for the absence of San Jose Sharks center and alternate captain Macklin Celebrini, which left fans outraged on social media.

Despite having a stellar season in the NHL, Celebrini missed out on a spot on the All-Star teams after finishing in third place in votes for the center position.

“The First and Second All-Star Teams have arrived!" wrote the NHL in a post on their official X account with a couple of stellar creatives for it.

Notably, Celebrini earned 207 votes to stay behind Connor McDavid (823 votes) and Nathan MacKinnon (723 votes) for the center position. It was also a bit of a surprise because he had finished in fourth place in votes for the Hart Memorial Trophy, which honors the most valuable player.

Celebrini had scored 115 points (45G / 70A) in the 82 games to find himself in the fourth spot in the list of highest scorers for the 2025-26 season.

In the first All-Star team, McDavid was joined by Nikita Kucherov, Jason Robertson, Cale Makar, Zach Werenski, and Andrei Vasilevskiy. Meanwhile, the second All-Team had MacKinnon accompanied by Cole Caufield, David Pastrnak, Rasmus Dahlin, Evan Bouchard, and Logan Thompson.

Moreover, Celebrini carried his form from the NHL with the Sharks to the 2026 IIHF World Championship in Switzerland. As the teenage captain of an experienced Team Canada, he led them incredibly not just as a leader but also with his performances.

While Canada finished in fourth place, Celebrini was declared the best forward of the tournament after scoring 14 points (6G / 8A) in 10 games. He was also named on the IIHF Media All-Star Team for the World Championship.

Fans react to Macklin Celebrini’s absence from All-Star Teams in the NHL

After the NHL shared a post on X to reveal the All-Star Teams for the 2025-26 season, the fans didn’t mince their words in their criticism of Macklin Celebrini missing out.

“WHERE is Celebrini?” a fan asked in the comments section, while another had no hesitation in calling them out by saying, “No Macklin Celebrini? Are you f****** crazy?”

One supporter made the case not just for Celebrini but also for Quinn Hughes.

“Where is Mack Celebrini and Quinn Hughes? I mean, what should they do to be qualified for your selections? 😐” the fan wrote.

Another suggested the NHL put together another All-Star Team for Celebrini and the players like him who missed out.

“You guys need a Third All-Star Team like the NBA does. Macklin Celebrini needed to be honored,” the supporter noted.

A fan saw that none of the players from the Vegas Golden Knights and the Carolina Hurricanes, currently playing in the Stanley Cup Final, made it to the All-Star Team.

“No players from the cup series.. this is a f****** joke,” a fan added.
