Minnesota Wild GM Opens Up on Jessi Pierce and Family's Heartbreaking Demise

The Minnesota Wild are mourning the tragic death of longtime reporter Jessi Pierce and her children. Wild general manager Bill Guerin addressed the tragic incident.

The Wild team’s general manager, Bill Guerin, opened up about this tragic incident. He said everyone is devastated. The GM also said Jessi was a part of the fraternity and hockey world.

"Words just can't express how devastated we all are. But as I mentioned to some of you the other night, it doesn't matter if you're in the media, if you're a player, or if you're in management or a coach; we are all in the sports world and the hockey world. We're all in this together,” Wild general manager Bill Guerin said on Monday.

Jessi Pierce was a news reporter who had been covering the Wild for NHL.com for the last 10 seasons. In a tragic incident, she, her three children, and a dog became the victims of a house fire. Neighbors were the first to spot the flames and called 911. By the time firefighters arrived at the scene, it was already too late. All four had already passed away.

Guerin further said, "Jessi was always happy, always in a good mood, always a pleasure to deal with for me, and we'll miss her. The great thing about our community is it doesn't matter what part of it you're in—media, player, coach, manager—we're all in this together, and we support each other."

In the end, Guerin addressed the media and said they are supporting the community. They can do all they possibly can in this tough phase.

Other Wild Members Also Talked About the Incident

Other members of the team also spoke about the passing of Jessi and her family. Wild’s captain, Jared Spurgeon, said Jessi’s energy was something to feel when she used to get around.

Spurgeon also remembered the memories where Jessi used to bring her kids while interviewing. He said the reporter was very hardworking.

"If you ever met her, you just feel the energy around her," Wild captain Jared Spurgeon said. "Every time she was in here, she had a smile on her face, whether it was talking about the game at hand or just youth sports. I remember when she would bring the kids into the dressing room and do an interview holding (her son). It's very hard news to take."

Wild’s coach, John Hynes, also talked about Jessi’s legacy that she has left behind. She had a huge impact on the game.

"Hopefully we can all carry on her legacy with the smile and passion for the game and the way she treated people," Wild coach John Hynes said. It's tremendous to see the legacy that she left, and you see all the outpouring of support and the impact that she had not only professionally, but more importantly, personally."
