Mitch Marner Mocked by Leafs Fan After Vegas Loses Stanley Cup Final

With a 3-0 loss against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Vegas Golden Knights' hopes to win the Stanley Cup came to an end, and fans criticized Mitch Marner for his performance. The Knights played a crucial Game 6 of the Finals on Sunday.

The game was important, as the Hurricanes were leading in the best-of-seven-game series, and a win for Vegas could push the Finals to another Game 7. However, at the T-Mobile Arena in Nevada, the Hurricanes carried their Game 5 momentum and secured the win and the Stanley Cup trophy.

Vegas right wing Mitch Marner had a terrible time on ice in Game 5 and continued to struggle in Game 6. He did not score any points in either of them, drawing criticism from fans.

Marner had a total of 29 points in 22 games in the postseason. Per Sportsnet, when Vegas is winning, Marner is doing well, but he struggles with his game in losses.

In the postseason, in the seven games in which Vegas had a tough time, Marner has zero goals. However, he assisted on seven. His struggle in performance came in the crucial and decisive last two games, which cost Vegas the Stanley Cup title.

In Game 5, he did not score any points, and Vegas lost 4-2, giving the Hurricanes a one-game lead in the series, which they converted into a 4-2 win after Game 6 on Sunday, where again Marner struggled to score any points.

Overall, in the postseason, he had added 10 goals and also assisted on 19, while in the regular season, he scored 24 goals and 56 assists, adding 80 points in total.

It was his first season with Vegas after spending nine seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Following his disappointing run in the last two games, the Leafs fans mocked him on social media.

Fans Take Jab At Mitch Marner

Following the disappointing loss against the Hurricanes, Vegas shared a post on its X account. Fans reacted in the comments section and took aim at Marner.

"You guys really thought he [Mitch Marner] was going to show up when it mattered most? We tried to tell you," a fan wrote.

Meanwhile, another fan took a jibe and said that the team's head coach, Josh Tortorella, would defend him from the "haters."

Notably, before this, after a disappointing outing from Vegas goalie Carter Hart, who had allowed at least four goals in the first five games of the Stanley Cup Finals this season, he also drew criticism from fans and was asked by the media if Vegas would replace him for Game 6. But Tortorella still considered him and called out the reporter for asking the question.

Fans took a toll on that in Marner's case as well.

"MITCHYYYYYYY DONTTTTT RUNNNNNN🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣" one more added.

Yet a social media user said, "Big game Mitchy."
