The hockey world has been left devastated after the tragic passing of a longtime NHL reporter, Jessi Pierce. Her sudden death in a house fire shocked colleagues, players, and the fans around the world.
Following news of the tragedy, teams, executives, and media members from across the NHL shared heartfelt tributes honoring Pierce’s legacy.
The league, in its official statement, described Jessi Pierce as an important member of the hockey fraternity. She used to bring a lot of energy and passion while working with the NHL.
Bill Price, the vice president and editor-in-chief of NHL.com, has also issued a heartfelt statement. "The entire NHL.com team is devastated and heartbroken by the loss of Jessi and her children," Bill Price said.
"Jessi's love of her family and hockey was evident in the energy and passion she brought to her work for us. She was an absolute joy to talk to and work with. She will be deeply missed."
The league also said Jessi loved hockey, and they are saddened by the demise of Jessi and her three kids.
"The entire National Hockey League family sends our prayers and deepest condolences to the Pierce family on the passing of Jessi Pierce and her three young children."
"Jessi loved our game and was a valued member of the NHL.com team for a decade. We will miss her terribly," the league said in a statement.
Minnesota Wild Issued an Emotional Statement for Jessi Pierce and Family
Members of the Minnesota Wild organization also expressed deep sorrow and are saddened by the news. They highlighted the strong relationships Pierce had built within the franchise over the years.
"The Minnesota Wild organization is heartbroken by the tragic loss of Jessi Pierce and her children," the Wild said in a statement.
Colleagues also said she was not only a talented journalist but also a compassionate individual who cared deeply about the people she covered.
"Jessi was a kind, compassionate person who cared deeply about her family and those around her. She served as a dedicated ambassador for the game of hockey during her time covering the Wild and the NHL.
In the end, the Wild said Jessi and her family will be missed. "Jessi and her children will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to their family, friends, and all who knew and loved them."
Jessi Pierce was a passionate sports journalist, covering the Wild for NHL.com over the years. On March 21, 2026, she and her three children fell victim to a devastating house fire.
Neighbors were the first to notice flames shooting through the roof and immediately called 911.
By the time firefighters arrived at the scene, they discovered Jessi and her three children dead inside the home. The family dog also perished in the same tragic fire.
Jessi was an exceptionally talented and dedicated reporter, and her passing has left the entire hockey fraternity in deep mourning.
