The Vegas Golden Knights lost the Stanley Cup, and their right wing, Mitch Marner, came under fire from fans. It was his first season with Vegas after a successful stint with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Marner had a tough time on the ice in the concluding two Stanley Cup Finals matchups, which cost Vegas the title. He did not score any points in Game 5 or Game 6.

Following Sunday's game at the T-Mobile Arena, the Leafs fans on social media brutally trolled the 29-year-old Ontario-born star, but later, some fans slammed the trolls.
Per the Sportsnet report, Mitch Marner had been impressive in the games Vegas won. In their 14 wins in the playoffs, he recorded 10 goals, and whenever he struggled, the team lost the matchups.
Throughout this postseason, Marner scored 10 goals and had 19 assists, adding 29 points in 22 games.
How Did Fans React to Marner's Criticism?
Gino Hard shared a post on its X account on Monday about Mitch Marner's stats from his time with the Leafs and also with Vegas. In Games 4–6 of the Stanley Cup playoffs this season, he only assisted in one goal. Fans reacted to the post in the comments section, defending Marner.
"It’s a team sport he can’t put the whole Vegas golden knight on his back," a fan wrote.
Another fan added about Vegas forward William Karlsson missing from the last game of the Finals. Karlsson had sustained an arm/wrist injury in Game 5 and left the game after the second period following a hard hit from Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Sean Walker.
His absence from the cup's last game affected the team's coordination, which fans highlighted in the comments.
"You’re missing the important point that VGK lost Karlsson for the last game and half. He was critical to helping Marner be Marner..," the fan added.
One more fan defended Marner by citing his postseason stats.
"Marner had 16 points in 12 GP in all games 4-6 this postseason. Nice cherry pick on stats," a fan wrote.
Meanwhile, one called it "nonsense."
"Give it a rest; it's a team game," added another fan.
