The Vegas Golden Knights and Carolina Hurricanes are fighting for the Stanley Cup, while the other teams are preparing for next season by making sure they have the strongest team they can.
A shocking wave spread through the NHL world after insider Elliotte Friedman reported that Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin has requested a trade. Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin has reportedly shown interest in him, and a new report suggested a few more names on his list.
Per Michael Russo, in a post shared by the NHL Rumor Report on X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, Guerin would be looking for Auston Matthews, Robert Thomas, Larkin, and others.
"Michael Russo: This is...why Bill Guerin didn’t want to give up a haul for Vincent Trocheck at the trade deadline, just in case somebody like Dylan Larkin, Auston Matthews, Robert Thomas, Nico Hischier or even...Brady Tkachuk could be had - The Athletic (6/5)," the post says.
The reports circulating say that the Wild would likely be interested in Larkin, and Guerin would talk about him with Detroit GM Steve Yzerman in the coming weeks. However, a recent report suggests that Yzerman has asked for an expansion of the trade list for Larkin.
Yzerman Requests Larkin to Expand Trade List
Per a recent report by NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, Steve Yzerman has gone to Larkin's camp and asked him to expand his trade list. The Red Wings center had reportedly posted three teams in his trade request, and the general manager asked to expand it and is looking forward to getting the best value on the trade market.
"REPORT: Steve Yzerman has gone back to Dylan Larkin’s camp and asked to expand his trade list, per @PierreVLeBrun," The Detroit Times wrote in its post on X.
Per reports by HockeyFeed, Larkin has included the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, and Vegas Golden Knights, while the expanded teams are the Anaheim Ducks, Tampa Bay Lightning, and New York Islanders.
It would be interesting to see whether Guerin will secure a deal for Larkin or other players mentioned by Russo.
What do you think? Who will be joining the Wild before the upcoming season? Let us know in the comments.
