NHL Journalist Tyson Cole Predicts Panthers Move Based on Social Media Pattern

A single X post reignited speculation about the Florida Panthers' next move. On Wednesday, NHL journalist Tyson Cole pointed out a familiar pattern in the club’s online presence before major announcements.

Cole noticed how the Panthers had previously asked fans how they were doing before making significant offseason moves. With the team posting a similar message again, he questioned whether another big move is on the way.

“The Panthers ask how their fans are doing right in the offseason before something significant,” Cole wrote on X.

He referenced June 21, when Florida completed its blockbuster trade for Brady Tkachuk, and June 26, the opening day of the NHL Draft, before ending with the question: “…what are the Panthers up to now?”

Although there’s no indication that another move is really there. Florida has already been one of the league's busiest teams this offseason.

Their biggest move came on June 21 when GM Bill Zito acquired Brady Tkachuk from Ottawa, reuniting him with his brother Matthew.

The Panthers bolstered goaltending with Jacob Markstrom and Akira Schmid, then added veteran forward Garnet Hathaway. They later signed experienced players Lars Eller and Alexander Petrovic in free agency.

Cole’s observation does not confirm another transaction, but given Florida’s aggressive approach, fans naturally hold expectations.

Can Florida Panthers' Roster Overhaul Deliver Another Cup Run?

Florida enters the 2026-27 season with one of the NHL’s most powerful cores despite last year’s playoff disappointment. The Panthers failed to advance after winning back-to-back Stanley Cups, with injuries playing a major role.

Brady Tkachuk gives the Panthers another powerful forward to play alongside his brother Matthew, captain Aleksander Barkov, and defenseman Aaron Ekblad.

The front office also replaced its goaltenders with Markstrom and Schmid, adding depth with veteran signings.

Although the Panthers sacrificed significant assets to land Brady Tkachuk, the team is clear that maximizing its core talent remains the priority.

The roster now blends established stars with experienced additions, leaving fans expecting more before the new season begins.

Whether Tyson Cole’s social media theory proves true or not, Florida’s latest post has people wondering if another big move is just around the corner.
