NHL Reveals Branding for 2027 Winter Classic and Stadium Series

The NHL has officially released the logos for its big outdoor games for the 2026-27 season. The main events are the 2027 Winter Classic in Utah and the 2027 Stadium Series in Texas.

The league continues its tradition of giving each outdoor game a unique look. These logos also reflect the identity of the host city and the teams playing there.

The 2027 NHL Winter Classic will be played on December 31, 2026, at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. At the event, the Utah Mammoth will host the Colorado Avalanche. The NHL has been using the Winter Classic-like script style since 2008, with only minor changes over the years.

Around the classic script, the logo features a Utah-style design with mountain peaks at the top and red rock desert shapes at the bottom. As reported by SportsLogos, the whole logo sits inside a hexagon inspired by the Utah state flag.

A special detail is the “t” in Winter, where the crossbar looks like a mammoth tusk, linking it to the Utah Mammoth. The logo also does not show 2027 because the game is played in 2026, similar to the 2025 Winter Classic in Chicago.

The 2027 NHL Stadium Series logo uses a different style. The game will be played on February 20, 2027, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Dallas Stars will play the Vegas Golden Knights in this marquee event.

Unlike the Winter Classic, this event does not focus on nostalgia. The Stadium Series usually boasts a more modern and futuristic design.

The logo shows AT&T Stadium at the top in silver and black. A large silver star with green shading sits in front, representing the Dallas Stars.

Bold white block letters with silver accents appear across the center. A green banner at the bottom reads “Arlington * TX * 2027.”

NHL Released Heritage Classic Logo

Earlier this year, the NHL also released the logo for the 2026 Heritage Classic. The Winnipeg Jets will host the Montreal Canadiens on October 25.

The logo uses vintage-style script and hand-painted lettering inside a wood-style frame inspired by cottage country and hockey sticks. It also includes moose antlers, the NHL shield, Northern Lights artwork, and a red maple leaf to show a strong Canadian identity.

Together, these three logos show how the NHL mixes tradition with modern style in its outdoor games. Each event has its own look that matches the host city and game atmosphere.
