NHL Star Brandon Montour Names Newborn Baby After Late Brother

Brandon Montour's family just grew by one. The NHL star Brandon Montour and his wife, Ryian, welcomed a new son, and his name is a powerful tribute to a loved one they lost.

The couple named their newborn child after Brandon’s late brother Cameron, who passed away in October 2025 after battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

ALS is a progressive neurological condition that affects nerve cells and gradually leads to loss of muscle control.

Following his brother’s death last year, the defenseman talked about the situation to the media. He expressed pride in being Cameron's brother and admired his character and strength.

“I’m very proud, very happy to be his brother. He’s somebody I've looked up to since day one. He was a great son, brother, best friend, and father”, said Brandon Montour.

"He’s got two baby girls. He battled hard. You’ve got to put everything into perspective with the highs I’ve had the last couple of years with winning [the 2024 Stanley Cup] and hockey and having babies and creating my own family. He was at home battling," the D-man added.

Brandon Montour and His Wife Are Now Proud Parents of Three Children

Brandon and his wife are now parents to three children. Their first child, a son, was born in June 2023, and they named him Kai.

A year later, the couple was blessed with a baby girl named Maison. Now, with the arrival of Cameron, Montour found another way to honor his late brother.

Last year, the Seattle Kraken stepped in to support Brandon Montour after his brother's passing. “Clearly, our hearts have been with him, the support has been with him,” said Kraken coach Lane Lambert.

However, things haven't gone well for the Kraken in the last five games. With their latest loss against the Minnesota Wild, the Brandon Montour team is virtually out of playoff contention.
