Nick Suzuki Hits 100-Point Milestone, Cementing His Rise as Montreal’s Franchise Star

The Montreal Canadiens captain, Nick Suzuki, has achieved one of the rarest feats in franchise history. He becomes only the 5th player to complete 100+ points in a season.

The moment came against the New York Islanders on Sunday, where he scored two points in the game.  Nick Suzuki, at such a young age, has been leading the Canadiens from the front. His team has already reached the playoffs this season.

And now the 23-year-old has joined an elite club to become only the 5th player in franchise history to record 100 points in the season.

His moment came against the Islanders on April 12, 2026, when he scored a goal at 15:56 in the 2nd period. It was the first goal of the match, and a powerful snap shot allowed him to reach his 100th point of the season.

It is the first time in 36 years that a Canadiens player has reached the 100 points mark in the season. The last player in the franchise to do so was Mats Naslund, way back in the 1985-86 season.

Apart from Naslund and Suzuki, the other three players to achieve this feat are Guy Lafleur, Peter Mahovlich, and Steve Shutt.

Later, Suzuki also scored his 101st point when he assisted his teammate Ivan Demidov to score the second goal of the game. The Canadiens won the game 4-1.

“It’s Special” - Nick Suzuki on Reaching the 100 points

Nick Suzuki reflected on achieving a childhood dream, saying the milestone felt special and honoured the legacy of past Montreal Canadiens players.

“When I was a little kid, I mean, you think of, you know, doing things like this, and that's definitely special, especially with this organization. So I'm proud to be a part of the group that came before me.”

The 23-year-old also said he focuses on playing the right way rather than chasing points. “I take a lot of pride in, you know, just playing the game the right way and not really, you know, trying to worry about points.”

At the same time, he continues to trust the young talent and growing chemistry of the Montreal Canadiens.

“I think as we kept building this team and the talent that we were acquiring and, you know, the chemistry that we were building, I think definitely, you know, saw a lot of potential in that.”

The way Nick Suzuki is leading the team, it looks like they have the real potential to become the champions this season. He himself is setting an example and has been consistent in the last few seasons.

The 23-year-old has not missed a single game in his NHL career yet. From 41 points in the 2019-20 season to 101 points this season (till now), he has made a long journey.

His focus will now be on how his team can win the Stanley Cup 2026. And for that, he will do each and everything possible. Let’s see how he goes about his business in the playoffs.
