You probably remember the moment when Buffalo Sabres fans sang Canada’s national anthem after the singer’s mic stopped working.
According to 2WGRZ, Molson Canadian rewarded Buffalo Sabres fans with a round of free b*** during Game 6 of the NHL playoffs. The gesture followed a viral Game 5 moment where the crowd took over singing the Canadian national anthem after a microphone failure.
The incident happened during Game 5 (April 28, 2026) of the first round of the playoffs between the Buffalo Sabres and the Boston Bruins. Before the game, anthem singer Cami Clune started singing ‘O Canada’, the Canadiens national anthem.
While she was singing, her mic suddenly stopped working. After that, fans inside the arena started singing the anthem and completed it together.
This created a very emotional moment. Later, Molson Canadian announced that fans would get one round of free b*** during Game 6. As per 2WGRZ, The company said it was a thank-you gesture. Fans showed respect for the anthem and saved the moment.
"Molson Canadian saw it as hockey fans doing what Canadians do best, showing up for each other when it matters," the company said in a statement.
The moment also created a positive moment between Canadian and U.S. fans. Earlier, even after such an emotional moment during Game 5, the Buffalo Sabres lost the game 2-1 in overtime.
But fans did not focus on the loss. Instead, their powerful anthem moment became more popular and went viral everywhere.
Buffalo Sabres Sealed The Series in Game 6
It was a joyful moment for the Sabres fans during Game 6. First, they get a free b***, then their team sealed the series and came out victorious in Game 6. They won the encounter by 4-1.
Lyon had a GAA of 1.01 and a save percentage of .962. Tuch, Samuelsson, Benson, and Norris had one goal each. Thompson also contributed with two assists. David Pastrnak scored the only goal for the Bruins in that game.
With that win, the Sabres advanced to Round 2, sealing the series 4-2. The atmosphere inside the arena was already electric, but no one expected a simple pre-game moment to turn into something unforgettable.
Molson Canadian received a lot of praise for this gesture. It made an already feel-good story even better. It showed that brands can connect with fans in meaningful ways when they recognise genuine moments.
Now, the focus will shift to Round 2 for the Sabres and their fans. They are waiting for the result of the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Whoever wins Game 7 on May 03 will play the Sabres in the second round. Let’s see how things panned out.
