The Ottawa Titans just launched a jersey exchange promotion on Thursday, June 25. They invited all the fans to trade in their Brady Tkachuk Ottawa Senators jerseys for the Ottawa Titans jerseys. This is ahead of the Frontier League team's July 7 home game. 

The announcement is coming just days after Tkachuk's trade to the Florida Panthers, ending his eight-season stint as the face of the Senators franchise. The Titans promoted this in a post just after Tkachuk departed from the team.

"The No. 7 Ottawa deserves! We're exchanging Brady Tkachuk jerseys for AJ Wright jerseys at our game on Tuesday, July 7th!" the Titans' official account on X announced on June 25.

AJ Wright is an infielder for the Titans. He also wears a No. 7 jersey, the same as Tkachuk wore throughout his NHL career with Ottawa.

For a team that is looking to make its mark in the city, the timing allowed the Titans to put themselves into a buzzing conversation that had dominated Ottawa for a while. 

Tkachuk was traded to the Florida Panthers on June 21 after saying that he would not re-sign with Ottawa at the end of his contract. The deal made him reunite with his brother, Matthew Tkachuk, in Florida.

They ended up getting a significant return to the Senators, including two first-round picks in the 2026 NHL Draft, the ninth and 25th overall selections, along with a 2029 first-round pick and a second-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft.

The deal has not been warmly received by a large section of Senators fans, especially after Tkachuk reaffirmed his commitment to Ottawa following the team's playoff elimination in April.

For the Senators, moving their captain for a draft capital is a big deal, considering the amount of uncertainty about what would happen later. 

Given the seriousness of the situation, the fans poured in their reaction under the Titans' post.

Fans respond with enthusiasm

The promotion got all the fans to start piling on in the comments to share their reactions.

On the Wingmen podcast, Brady revealed that Florida's winning culture was a bigger reason for joining the Panthers than the prospect of playing with his brother. A fan expressed approval of the local club's playful jab. "This is amazing," one supporter wrote.

Another added, "Well done. Love this." The fan appreciates the lighthearted nature of the jersey swap.

According to CTV News, eligibility for the jersey exchange is limited to fans who complete the online form and have a valid ticket for the July 7 game. "This is fantastic!" read the comment.

Most of the reactions were positive and enthusiastic. "I can't make that game, but I would still be willing to trade," one fan wrote. The organization stated that only a limited number of jerseys will be available, and they will be ordered and shipped at a later date.

For a local baseball club, this kind of reaction gave the Ottawa sports fans a humorous outlet right after one of the most significant departures in Senators' history.
