A big development is coming from the Pittsburgh Penguins camp as they have received a boost regarding the health of their captain, Sidney Crosby.
The 38-year-old continues to recover from the injury and traveled with the team for the next game against the Islanders.
He traveled with the team for their next encounter against the New York Islanders at UBS Arena. It is a positive sign, and it remains to be seen if he will be fully fit for the Monday (March 30, 2026) game.
Sidney Crosby, the captain of the Penguins, remains day to day, but his development on injury has not been determined for Monday, confirmed by the coach, Dan Muse.
As the last stage of the regular season approaches, every game from here on out will be important. Crosby understands the situation and wanted to be there at 11. He wanted to contribute to these big games.
"They're all important at this point," Crosby said. "It's a big race, a big stretch for us. You know, as a player, these are the ones you want to be in. I mean, these are big games."
Sidney Crosby suffered a lower-body injury during the game against the Ottawa Senators on March 26, 2026 (Thursday).
After facing an issue, he left the game after spending 38 seconds in the second period. The Penguins went on to win the game 4-3.
The 38-year-old confirmed that this lower-body injury is not related to the one he suffered during the 2026 Winter Olympics.
He played for Team Canada and faced similar issues. The forward player has to sit out for 11 games before making a comeback on March 18, 2026.
A Major Boost for Penguins if Sidney Crosby Returns to Full Fitness
After sustaining an injury, Crosby missed the game against Dallas on March 28, 2026 (Saturday). The Penguins lost that game 6-3.
Although it has not yet been confirmed that Crosby is fully fit, traveling with the team indicates that he is working toward returning to full fitness and wants to stay alongside his teammates during this challenging period.
If he does regain full fitness, it would be a major boost for the team. His leadership is extremely important, especially at a time when the playoff race has intensified.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are currently standing at No. 3 in the Metropolitan Division (Eastern) with 88 points. Their next challenge is that the Islanders are at No. 2 with 89 points. So it will be a crucial encounter for both teams.
