With the 2026 NHL Draft getting closer, top Swedish prospect Ivar Stenberg is making a strong case as one of the best players available. The 18-year-old forward has impressed scouts with his offensive skills, hockey IQ, and strong performances against top competition. 

Because of this, many expect him to be selected early in the draft. As talk continues about the San Jose Sharks' draft plans, Ivar Stenberg has made it clear that he would be excited to join the team.

In a video shared on X by San Jose Hockey Now insider Sheng Peng, Stenberg was asked about the chance of playing for the Sharks. He gave a clear answer and said he would be happy to join the organization.

"Yeah, I would be happy to go there for sure. Have something good going on, so it would be a dream."

Stenberg's comments will likely make Sharks fans even more excited as the team continues to build a young and talented roster. He did not guess where he would be drafted, but he showed that he likes San Jose's rebuilding plan and would welcome the chance to be part of it.

The interview also moved to the idea of playing with Sharks star Michael Silverman if San Jose picks him in the draft.

Asked what that experience would be like, Stenberg replied, "That would be pretty fun. Yeah, he's one of the best in the world, so that would be fun."

Stenberg praised Silverman, showing his respect for one of hockey's top young players. His comments also showed why San Jose is an exciting team for top NHL Draft prospects.

Stenberg's Rising Draft Stock Continues to Build

As BVM Sports previously reported, Ivar Stenberg has become one of the top prospects in the 2026 NHL Draft. The 17-year-old scored three goals and added three assists in 12 playoff games.

He also gained important experience in Sweden's top professional league and at the IIHF Men's World Championship. His offensive talent, strong two-way game, and calm play against older players have made him one of the most exciting prospects in this draft.

BVM Sports also reported that draft analyst Jason Bukala ranked Stenberg No. 1 in his final 2026 NHL Draft rankings. That ranking shows many believe he could reach the NHL sooner than expected. Whether he joins the NHL right away or spends another season in Sweden, expectations for him keep growing.

Stenberg has already said he would be happy to join the Sharks. With his draft stock still very high, all attention will now be on San Jose when it is time to make its pick.
