Detroit Red Wings captain and center Dylan Larkin handed in a trade request recently, sending shockwaves in the NHL. Since then, the wheels have started to move at the Red Wings to transfer him elsewhere, with their GM Steve Yzerman taking charge.

In the latest update on the saga, the Detroit Times took to its official X account to share the excerpts of a report from NHL insider Pierre LeBrun for The Athletic.

“REPORT: Steve Yzerman has gone back to Dylan Larkin’s camp and asked to expand his trade list, per @PierreVLeBrun. No word on if it includes Canadian teams,” they wrote in a post on X.

Larkin initially sent a trade list of three teams to the Red Wings front office, but Yzerman requested that he expand it to possibly get the best value out of him in the NHL trade market. The Red Wings GM is working with Larkin’s agent, Pat Brisson, in a “respectful manner,” per LeBrun’s report.

“Yzerman went back to Brisson and asked to expand their original list of three teams, and my sense is that Brisson was receptive to that to some degree. So I don’t think we’re just dealing with the Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights, and Florida Panthers anymore,” LeBrun wrote for The Athletic.

LeBrun alluded to the Dallas Stars’ interest in bringing in Larkin in a trade deal with the Red Wings.

“They haven’t extended restricted free agent Jason Robertson yet, although those contract discussions continue. Food for thought if an extension doesn’t get done in due time,” he remarked.

Furthermore, the Minnesota Wild, another franchise interested in Larkin, might not have enough on their own to secure the Larkin trade with Detroit. But, to solve that, LeBrun mentioned a three-way deal to send him over to the Wild this summer.

Which Teams Are Named In The Expanded Trade List Dylan Larkin Sent To Detroit Red Wings?

In their recent report, the HockeyFeed website mentioned the names of three more teams that Dylan Larkin reportedly sent to the Detroit Red Wings. The expanded trade list of teams includes the Anaheim Ducks, the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the New York Islanders.

While the trade list from Larkin has expanded, the 29-year-old is still signed with the Red Wings on an eight-year contract extension worth $69.6 million, which began in the 2023-24 season. While the average annual value of the deal is $8.7 million, his base salary is decreasing gradually as the years go by.

Larkin got paid $10 million as base salary for 2025-26, while the number will go down to $8 million if he decides to stay for the upcoming season.

It might be one of the reasons for him to leave Detroit, except for the fact that they haven’t made the Stanley Cup Playoffs since his debut season in 2015-16.

Also, the relationship between Larkin and Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman isn’t on a great footing recently, either. Woodward Sports Network shared a quote from Sean Shapiro of The Athletic about the situation on their official X account, which sounded quite serious.

“They don’t speak unless they’ve had to, they haven’t spoken in a while,” Shapiro said.
