Red Wings Trade Situation Analyzed as Dylan Larkin's Future Remains in Focus

Trade rumors around Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin have started again after new comments from NHL insider Frank Seravalli. No trade looks close right now, but Seravalli said one big thing must happen before Detroit can seriously move its captain.

On X, NHL Rumour Report shared Seravalli's comments from the Frankly Hockey podcast. He did not talk about a specific team. Instead, he explained what needs to happen before a Larkin trade becomes possible.

Speaking on Frankly Hockey, Seravalli said, "Re Red Wings: Will Dylan Larkin widen his list, I think that has to happen in order for a trade to materialize."

Seravalli's comments suggest that Larkin may need to accept more trade destinations before any deal can move forward.

Larkin is still one of the biggest names in NHL trade rumors, even though he is the Red Wings' captain. Detroit has not shown any sign that it wants to trade him.

But Seravalli believes Larkin's choice of teams could become an important part of the process if trade talks become serious. Right now, there are no confirmed trade talks or negotiations, and the rumors remain only speculation.

As more offseason rumors continue to come out, people are watching to see if Detroit will consider trading its captain for a big offer.

Earlier Jason Robertson speculation added fuel to the rumors

This is not the first time Seravalli has connected Larkin to trade rumors this offseason. On the same Frankly Hockey podcast, he also talked about reports from June 30 about a possible trade between the Detroit Red Wings and the Dallas Stars involving Larkin and winger Jason Robertson.

In an earlier MarkerZone report by David St-Jean, Seravalli revealed there had been talks about a Larkin-for-Robertson trade. However, Seravalli said people should not think it was a simple one-for-one deal. Even so, he confirmed that the idea had been discussed around the NHL.

The reported trade idea raised a lot of questions. Robertson scored 96 points last season and is three years younger than Larkin, making him an important player for Dallas. Larkin, meanwhile, is still Detroit's captain and top center after recording 67 points in 74 games.

The reported idea was never called active trade talks, but it showed how often Larkin's name has come up in trade rumors this offseason. For now, he is still with the Red Wings.

There are still no confirmed trade talks, and many things could affect what happens next. Because of that, Larkin's future remains one of the biggest NHL stories this offseason.

If the rumors continue, the main question may not be whether teams want him, but whether the right situation comes together for a trade to happen.

What do you think? Will expanding his list of preferred destinations help Dylan Larkin make a trade happen? Let us know in the comments.
