Sidney Crosby Redefines His NHL Career With New Record

Sidney Crosby just set a new standard for NHL consistency. The Penguins captain extended his own record by clinching a 21st consecutive point-per-game season.

He achieved this feat during a game against the Florida Panthers on April 05, 2026. Crosby scored 3 points in the game, helping the Penguins secure a 5-2 victory. He scored one goal and had two assists in the game.

What makes the achievement even more impressive is that he has never fallen below that mark in his documented hockey career, dating back to the 2001–02 season during his junior hockey days.

Before that, Canada’s Wayne Gretzky had that record. He recorded a 19-point-per-game season.

However, Sidney Crosby had already claimed this record earlier. He secured it last year by achieving his 20th consecutive point-per-game season, surpassing Wayne Gretzky in the process. Now, he has further extended that record.

Sidney Crosby is closing in on another record

Crosby also scored the 72nd overall point this season in the Penguins' win over the Panthers. It means even if he plays the remaining 4 games of the regular season and does not score a point, he would still end up with over 70 points in 70 games.

In 66 games, he has 29 goals and 43 assists this season. However, with these 72 points, the Penguins captain is also closing in on another record.

Sidney Crosby now has 16 seasons with at least 70 points and sits in third place on that list behind Wayne Gretzky (17) and Gordie Howe (18).

His team is currently sitting at No. 2 in the Metropolitan (Eastern) standings. Their next game is against the New Jersey Devils on April 09, 2026.
