Notably, as reported by Sportsnet, Bobrovsky put pen to paper on a three-year, $21 million contract with the Maple Leafs after becoming an unrestricted free agent (UFA). The average annual value (AAV) of the deal is $7 million, a significant downgrade compared to $10 million during his time at the Florida Panthers.

“The Leafs put their trust in me, they put their belief, and they give me a good opportunity to join the historical, legendary team and be part of this organization,” he remarked during the media availability.

Bobrovsky is set to bring in immense experience to the Maple Leafs roster, none more important than winning the Stanley Cup on back-to-back occasions in the last two years.

In his 16-season-long NHL career, he has managed to put together a 456-266-58 record in 806 games while playing for the Philadelphia Flyers, Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Panthers. His career save percentage has been .912, while his goals-against average is 2.61, with 53 shutouts.

During his 117 games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Bobrovsky has a 61-50-0 record. He is also a two-time Vezina Trophy winner for the best NHL goalie with the Blue Jackets in 2013 and 2017.

Sergei Bobrovsky thanks the Florida Panthers for an "amazing" seven-year stint

During his media availability with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Sergei Bobrovsky took a moment to thank the Florida Panthers after representing them for the last seven years.

“I would like to use this opportunity to thank the Florida Panthers organization,” said Bobrovsky. “It's been an amazing seven (years) for me. I want to thank everybody, the whole organization.”

During his seven seasons in Florida, Bobrovsky played 349 regular-season games for a 201-113-21 record with a .903 save percentage, 2.80 goals-against average, and 20 shutouts. He also took the ice in 83 Stanley Cup Playoff games for them to produce a 50-32-0 record, including a .909 save percentage, 2.55 goals-against average, and six shutouts.

It will be quite interesting to see if Bobrovsky will be able to perform for the Maple Leafs at the high standards set by him with the Panthers in recent years.
