USA Names 31 Players for National Team Camp Ahead of Canada Showdown in Michigan

USA Hockey announced their camp roster of 31 players who are fighting to make the roster for the 2026 IIHF Women's World Championships in Denmark this week. The camp will be September 13-19, and will be hosted at the NSC Super Rink in Blaine, MN. All 23 players on the 2026 Olympic gold medal winning roster for USA were invited back to camp. PWHL veteransCasey O'Brien andJesse Compher, as well as upcoming PWHL rookiesLacey Eden, Sloane Matthews, Grace Dwyer, Emma Peschel, and Sydney Morrow are a few newcomers trying to make their way onto the roster at camp. 

There is only one current NCAA player (not returning on the USA roster likeJoy Dunne (Ohio State) and Ava McNaughton (Wisconsin)) named to camp-defenderLaney Potter (USA).

Next week will be just one of two camp sessions before USA skates in the 2026 IIHF Women's World Championships from November 6-16 at the Sportgalleriet in Herning & Blue Water Arena in Esbjerg, Denmark. The only position where there are no open roster spots at camp is at goalie, whereAerin Frankel, Gwyneth Philips, andMcNaughtonreturn as the clear top three skaters on defense.USA Will Host Canada in Plymouth, MIAfter Canadian Hockey announced a pre-World game, on October 28 at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario, and then USA will cross the border and will be the host to Canada for week two camp from Oct 23-30, while holding down practice at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, MI and will be playing the Canadians on October 30.
