The Vegas Golden Knights have signed young goalie Carl Lindbom to a new three-year contract. The deal is worth $900,000 per season, with a total value of $2.7 million, and will keep him with the team through the 2028-29 season.
This new contract shows that the Golden Knights believe in Lindbom after his strong progress in the organization. The Athletic's Golden Knights reporter, Jesse Granger, first reported the news on X.
"Goalie Carl Lindbom has signed a 3-year contract extension with the Golden Knights worth $900,000 per season", Granger wrote on his X.
Soon after, the NHL confirmed the new contract and shared the full details.
Carl Lindbom made his NHL debut during the 2025-26 season on Oct. 26 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He earned his first NHL win on Nov. 29 against the San Jose Sharks.
He played only eight NHL games, but he had a great season with the Henderson Silver Knights in the AHL.
The Swedish goalie finished the AHL season with a 24-5-8 record, a 2.16 goals-against average, and a .926 save percentage. He ranked among the league's top five in wins, save percentage, and goals-against average.
His strong play convinced Vegas to sign him to a new deal and keep him as an important part of the team's future.
Lindbom's remarkable AHL season made the extension an easy decision
Reports by NHL.com also pointed out how well Carl Lindbom played in the second half of the season. He finished the regular season with an 18-0-2 record in his final 21 games for Henderson. During that stretch, he posted a .923 save percentage and a 2.24 goals-against average.
His strong season earned him a spot on the AHL Second All-Star Team and the Pacific Division team for the 2026 AHL All-Star Game. In two seasons with Henderson, Lindbom has a 42-30-11 record, a 2.41 goals-against average, and a .919 save percentage. He has become one of the AHL's top young goalies.
Before coming to North America, Carl Lindbom played for Sweden and won bronze medals at the 2021 IIHF U18 World Championship and the 2022 World Junior Championship.
The Vegas Golden Knights picked him in the seventh round, 222nd overall, in the 2021 NHL Draft. Since then, he has performed better than expected for a late pick.
His new contract rewards his strong development and gives Vegas another young option in goal for the future. It also shows that the Golden Knights are willing to reward players they develop themselves when they earn it.
