Jack Eichel is establishing himself as one of the key players for the Vegas Golden Knights. His ability to deliver in high-pressure moments makes him one of the most impactful centers in the NHL postseason.

The Vegas Golden Knights took a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference Final against the Colorado Avalanche, and Game 2 was the clear example of Eichel’s influence. They were down 1-0 after two periods and struggled to create offense against a strong Avalanche defense. But the Golden Knights' forward changed the game in the third period.

He scored the tying goal at 9:15 with a sharp shot past Scott Wedgewood. Soon after, his first goal in 11 games. He assisted Ivan Barbashev’s winning goal. Eichel helped the team secure a 3-1 victory. After this performance, the team's coach, John Tortorella, also praised him.

“I think he’s the best 200-foot player in the game,” Vegas Golden Knights coach John Tortorella said. “I do. And there are some good ones. But he’s right there.”

Coach highlights Eichel’s trustworthiness, work ethic, and ability to create plays and score under playoff pressure.

“I think he wants to score more," he said. "There’s not a lot of ice out there. But you can trust him. He’s going to do that stuff. That’s an important part of trying to find your way in the playoffs.”

The goal marked a milestone for Eichel, who reached 60 career Stanley Cup Playoff points in just 54 games, the third-fastest pace among U.S.-born players in NHL history.

As of now, he has 18 points (2 goals and 16 assists) in 14 playoff games this season. He is just one point behind his teammate Mitch Marner, who leads the NHL with 7 goals and 19 points. 

Jack Eichel is focused on becoming a Complete Two-Way Player

Eichel appreciated the coach’s comments and said he wants to become a complete player.

“There’s a lot of really good 200-foot players in this league," he said. "For me personally, just trying to be a complete player, help our (defensemen) when we don’t have the puck, do the little things right, compete, and when you have the opportunity to produce and make plays, do that."

Eichel did not make the playoffs in his first seven NHL seasons. In his first playoff run, he led all players with 26 points, including 6 goals in 22 games. The Vegas Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup in 2023, and he was one of the main contributors. 

Teams’ other members also praised the 29-year-old for being an all-around player.

"He’s a superstar," said defenseman Rasmus Andersson. "He plays both sides of the ice and leads the way. He’s one of those players you don’t understand how good he is until you play with him.”

Eichel’s transformation into a complete postseason performer is now undeniable. The Knights would hope that he continues his good run going forward.
